Dr. Matt Broadbent

Research Scientist

Matt is a Research Scientist with a background in chemistry and a passion for bringing bio-based, biodegradable materials into everyday use. He completed his PhD at the University of Liverpool, where he developed novel cancer therapeutics using gold nanoparticles and visible light to destroy cancer cells. As a Development Chemist at Becker Industrial Coatings, he created paints that enabled more sustainable coating processes for major construction equipment manufacturers, scaling formulations from specification sheets to factory production. Seeing the vast resources poured into hydrocarbon-based chemistry inspired him to drive the development of regenerative, high-performance materials. He went on to become a Formulation Scientist at Radiant Matter, where he created and tested biodegradable, bio-based colour-effect materials, before joining Materiom.
